Holistic Health
Cheryl's grandmother was a pioneer of health advocacy in her rural Saskatchewan community, and this example sparked Cheryl's interest in health and wellness.  She began to explore healing work in earnest with a reflexology course in 2002. After receiving her diploma from Foothills College of Massage Therapy in Calgary, Alberta, she practiced massage at Inner Balance Spa until moving to Newfoundland in 2009. She has completed additional training in hot stone therapy, aromatherapy, reiki and Indian Champissage TM.  Cheryl strives to practice wellness from a place of peace and loving kindness and continues to explore new ways to embody these principles in daily life.

Cheryl is amazed at how even five minutes of moving and breathing on the mat can alter her view of the world.   She began exploring different styles of yoga in 1995, and her practice deepened after moving to Calgary and joining the local yoga communityAs a result, in 2008 Cheryl completed the 200-hour Akhanda Yoga Teacher Training with Yogi Vishvketu of World Conscious Yoga Family.  This experience inspired her to seek more joy in her life - both on and off the mat. Around the same time she undertook the challenge of a silent 10-day Vipassana Meditation Retreat, which had a profound effect on both her yoga and her work in alternative health.  More recently, Cheryl has felt drawn to explore Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga Therapy. Through her teaching, regular meditation practice- and daily walks with her dog Cookie- she strives to cultivate present moment awareness.  Cheryl is deeply grateful for the opportunity to share the gifts of slowing down, becoming still and moving inward with the flourishing St. John's yoga community.
